The Mayor of Higham Ferrers for 2023-24 is Councillor Nigel Brown. Nigel will be accompanied to events by his partner, The Mayoress Jackie Brown. The Deputy Mayor for 2023-24 is Councillor Vijay Paul.

Cllr Nigel Brown's Mayor Making Ceremony took place on Monday 15th May 2023. Councillors and invited guests gathered in the Council Chamber to witness Cllr Brown take his oath and be declared the Mayor of Higham Ferrers for 2023-24..

"Thank you for coming to Mayor Making tonight.

I would like to thank Cllr Gardner and Cllr Paul for sharing the role of Deputy Mayor last year. I would also like to thank my wife, Jackie, for being a very supportive Mayoress.

It has been quite a year as your Mayor. In September we had the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Of late the recent joys and celebrations of the coronation of King Charles III.

I look forward to the honour of continuing to represent the town as your Mayor and to hosting some more fundraising events which I hope to see you at.

This year I raised £2100 for my chosen charity, Northants Search and Rescue.

I have not chosen a particular charity this year but will be receiving grant applications from community groups and charities within the town for funds from the money I raise.

I will continue to try and be at the monthly Farmers Markets.

Once again, thank you all for coming, and enjoy the evening."
