Staff from the High Street Co-operative store in Higham Ferrers have been busy working in the community today. Liaising with the Town Council the Co-op staff have volunteered in the cemetery. The Mayor of Higham Ferrers, Cllr Peter Tomas, formally opened the new 'Dogs Off Lead' area on Thursday 3rd May. The Mayor was joined at the opening by fellow Councillors and local dog owners.
The area is proving increasingly popular with dog owners who are bringing their dogs to exercise. The Council is receiving positive feedback and word is spreading that it is a good place to visit.

The Mayor, Cllr Peter Tomas, officially opened the new multi-play unit in the play area at the Saffron Road Recreation ground on Tuesday 9th January. He was joined at the opening by members of the School Council from the Higham Ferrers Junior School. The Mayor, Councillor Peter Tomas, was delighted to attend the Alpha Pre-School birthday celebrations on Tuesday 17th October. Alpha Pre-School has been serving Higham Ferrers since 1967 and many residents of the town will have children or grandchildren who have attended. The Mayor's Civic Service was held on Sunday 8th October at St Mary's Church. The Mayor, Councillor Peter Tomas, and his invited guests processed from the Town Hall to the Church led by the Mayor's Sergeant and the impressive drummers from the Higham Ferrers Ranger Cadet band. On Friday 22nd September the Mayor, Councillor Peter Tomas, held his first fundraising event for his chosen cancer charities, McMillian Nurses, Crazy Hats and Prostate cancer. An evening of musical entertainment was held in the Bede House, with superb performances from Phil Baxter and Mandy Evans, Kara Hamer, Claire Emery, Tom Carter and Ellie McAspurn.

A new multi play unit and agility trail have been installed at the Saffron Road Play Area. The unit includes climbing nets, which are a new feature to the play area.
