At its Mayor Making Ceremony on yesterday (15th May) Higham Ferrers Town Council elected Councillor Peter Tomas as its Mayor and Councillor Jason Smithers as its Deputy Mayor.

Yesterday, (8th November) a commemorative veteran figure was unveiled by the War Memorial in Higham Ferrers. The installation, designed by artist George Thomas, represents a man covered in poppies and is believed to be only the second in the UK. The first figure was unveiled in 2015 in Hereford. The Higham Ferrers Neighbourhood Plan consultation highlighted a support to extend the existing Greenway, – the multi-use cycle and footpath that currently runs from John Clark Way in Rushden to the Ferrers School, to encourage safe off road access in and around the town.
