Avian Influenza - Higham Ferrers

North Northamptonshire Trading Standards have asked for our help to reach local people and local keepers of poultry and captive birds to advise that Avian Influenza has been detected within the Parish of HIGHAM FERRERS.

To help prevent it spreading please observe the following advice:-

Keep to the footpath

Keep dogs on leads

Do not feed wild waterfowl

Do not pick up or touch dead or sick wild birds

Do not touch wild bird feathers or surfaces contaminated with wild bird droppings

If you keep poultry or other birds, wash your hands and clean and disinfect your footwear before tending to your birds

If anyone suspects any type of bird flu in poultry or captive birds it must be reported immediately by calling the Defra Rural Services Helpline on 03000 200 301.
