Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy - Campaign Launches in the New Year

The first day of January sees the launch of our local campaign 'Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy'.

Each day we will be posting on the Town Council Facebook page an entry from our poster design competition. The competition was run in the Autumn at the Infant and Nursery School, the Junior School and Henry Chichele Primary School. The pupils were asked to design posters on a theme 'Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy'. The posters form an integral part of the campaign. The winning and runner up posters will be displayed around the town. The posters are aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to the town to be proud of its appearance; to keep the streets, parks and play areas free of litter, to use the litter bins provided or take the waste home.

The Mayor of Higham Ferrers, Councillor Chris O 'Rourke, says 'It is wonderful the schools have engaged with our project and the children of the town are helping us. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the schools to award the prizes to the competition winners and to meet the children and share our campaign message.'

In addition to the winning posters displayed around the town we wanted to celebrate the work and achievement of every pupil who designed a poster and give them a chance to view their entry online, and so, from 1st January, starting with the Year 2 Infants at Henry Chichele Primary School, we will be posting daily a poster on the Town Council Facebook page. These will be followed by the poster entries from the Junior School and then the Infant School.

Please check out our Facebook page to see the quality of the artwork and the imagination of your local children.

The Town Council is running the campaign to increase awareness and promote a change in attitude towards waste. Join the campaign by sharing the posts and spreading the word that we want a clean and tidy town and one we can all be proud of.

Also on Facebook, you will be able to hear Christian, of the Junior School, deliver his campaign poem. Congratulations to Christian for a wonderfully crafted and insightful poem to help stop litter in the town. Congratulations to all the children who submitted posters. Now let's prepare to spread the word in the New Year……..'Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy'.
