Congratulations to the Winners of our Poster Competition

Congratulations to the Winners of our Poster Competition

The local school children have been helping us prepare for a new campaign, 'Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy '. The school children were invited to design campaign posters and today the Mayor, Cllr Chris O'Rourke, and the Leader of the Council, Cllr Pam Whiting, were pleased to be able to present the winner and the 2 runners up with their prizes at the Higham Ferrers Infant School. Yesterday, the Mayor and the Leader of the Council presented the prizes to the winner and 2 runners up from the Higham Ferrers Junior School. Next week they will be visiting Henry Chichele School.

We would like to thank all the children who took part in the competition. We were delighted by the number of entries, the quality of the artwork and the imagination of the children.

In January 2020 the Town Council will be launching the' Keep Higham Ferrers Tidy' campaign and the posters will form an integral part of the campaign as they are displayed around the town and posted on social media. We want to encourage residents and visitors to the town to be proud of its appearance; to keep the streets, parks and play areas free of litter, to use the litter bins provided or take the waste home. It is wonderful the schools and the school children are helping us.

And the winners are………

The Infant School

Winner – Ava Rose Daly

Runners up – Ella Thompson and Eva Gibbs

The Junior School

Winner – Mathuran Jeffery

Runners up – Ethan Taylor and Evie Robinson

Special award to Christian Parker for his poem 'The Litter'

Thank you to East Northamptonshire Council Member Empowerment Fund for the prizes and also to Colemans of Higham Ferrers who donated the special award prize for the poem.
