Heritage Family Fun Day on Sunday 16th September

Heritage Family Fun Day on Sunday 16th September at Rushden Lakes, this event is taking place as part of the Nene Valley Festival and the National Heritage open weekends, the day is supported by Rushden Lakes and will bring together a wide array of interesting local information about our local heritage, performances from Rushden Town Band, lots of medieval fun and entertainment, displays, activities and a chance to meet Cyril the Squirrel (Rushden Towns Council's mascot). As part of the event we will be handing out goody bags including copies of our new "shop local" discount booklets, all vouchers can be redeemed in Rushden and Higham Ferrers throughout the autumn.

Programme of Events

10am Event Opens

11am Welcome from the local Mayors from Rushden Town Council & Higham Ferrers Town Council

11am - 11:45am All About Rushden Museum by Peter Fields in the boathouse

11am – 3pm Wildlife craft activities – drop in to the Visitor centre and decorate a bug hotel for your garden ready for insects that hibernate over winter.

£5 per activity.

12 to 12:45pm Footsteps in History – Shoes 1700 – 2000 by Sharn Mattthews in the boathouse

1:30pm to 3:30pm Rushden Town Band playing on the Boardwalk

Taking place throughout the day are a variety of activities and stalls provided by local businesses from Rushden & Higham Ferrers. Activities for the whole family include:
