Saturday 14th September:
This sunny Saturday saw the Horticultural Show at Chichele College organised by the Tourism group. There was an amazing range of entrants including a children's section which I judged. They had a beautifully decorated room and this proved to be a really popular event. I presented a trophy which I donated to the competition to the Best In Show to a Mr Groom for his wonderful carrots! Unfortunately the sponsors pulled out at the last minute so they couldn't award different categories, but next year I'm sure will be even better. The Tourism Group very kindly offered to donate any money's raised to my charities and £147 was donated from the raffle and sale of some of the produce. My thanks go to the Tourism Group for their kind donation.
Sunday September 15th - Mayors Civic Service at St Mary's Church:
I was delighted to welcome so many guests to one of the best attended Civic Services in recent years. We welcomed many youth groups, Bedesmen, Community groups, the British Legion with a standard bearer and Chains from Corby, Northampton, Godmanchester, Rushden, East Northants Council, Irchester, Kettering, Irthlingborough and South Northants District Council. We also had a very special guest in the High Sheriff of Northampton, Nicholas Robertson, and his wife Georgie who joined us for this special day. It was said by some that it was the longest parade they had seen! Guests, friends and family as well as the usual congregation enjoyed a wonderful service led by Revd Michelle Dalliston, the Mayor's Chaplain. Many thanks to those who attended and and to all those at the church who were involved in making it such a special day. I also send my thanks to the ladies from Tourism who helped with the refreshments in the Bede House and always lend their time to make these events a success.
At around 2.40pm after a busy morning at the Civic Service Mayoress Kathleen and I, Cllr Tina Reavey and Tony Reavey, Cllr Cesare Marinaro (Mayor of Rushden), Sabina Marinaro and their daughter were picked up on the Market Square by open-topped bus to travel to Rushden Lakes as part of the Heritage Bus Tour which was running through Higham Ferrers and Rushden to promote the towns. We then enjoyed the last hour of the Heritage Family Fun Day to round off a busy but successful day.

Both the Mayoress and myself attended the Mayor of Northampton's Civic Service on which started with a parade from the Guildhall to All Saints Church. After the Service we paraded back to the Guildhall for refreshments. The service was attended by the High Sheriff of Northampton, Nicholas Robertson DL and his wife Georgie and many dignatories, Civic leaders and Councillors.
Friday 27th September:
We both attended Chairman Cllr Dudley Hughes' Civic Ball at Stanwick Lakes which was well attended by Chains from all around Northants and Cambridgeshire. The food and company was good and we enjoyed the accompanying music.
Sunday 29th September:
On Sunday 29th we attended the Mayor of Thrapston, Cllr Karen Draycott's Civic Service at St James Church in Thrapston, which was again well attended and finished with a reception at the Plaza Community hall where we enjoyed refreshments and entertainment by a local choir.
Monday 30th September:

I attended alongside the Mayor and Mayoress of Rushden, Cllr Cesare and Sabina, the Chairman of ENC Cllr Dudley Hughes and David Laing, Lord Lieutenant, who gave a speech on what good work they are doing despite difficult times.
