New Mayor for Higham Ferrers

On Monday 14th May at the Mayor Making Ceremony, Councillor Jason Smithers was elected as Mayor for 2018/19 for Higham Ferrers. Councillor Chris O'Rourke was elected as his Deputy.

Dogs Off Lead Area Officially Opened

Dogs Off Lead Area Officially Opened

The Mayor of Higham Ferrers, Cllr Peter Tomas, formally opened the new 'Dogs Off Lead' area on Thursday 3rd May. The Mayor was joined at the opening by fellow Councillors and local dog owners.

The area is proving increasingly popular with dog owners who are bringing their dogs to exercise. The Council is receiving positive feedback and word is spreading that it is a good place to visit.

Proposed closure of the Library  main topic at the Annual Town Meeting.

The Annual Town Meeting was held last night (20th March) at the Adult School, Higham Ferrers. Reports were give by the Mayor, District Councillor Pam Whiting, Julie Thorneycroft (Town Manager) and representatives of various groups.

The main item on the agenda was an update on the proposed Library closure in Higham Ferrers by the Chairman of the Working Group. A copy of the report is below.

Update on the Future of the Library

Update on the Future of the Library

The Library is a service currently delivered by Northamptonshire County Council. As part of their money saving measures they consulted on 3 options which affected the future of Higham Ferrers Library. The Town Council gave a detailed response which supported option 1, as this was the only option where there was any future for the Library. Consultation - New Play Equipment - Mallard Close

Consultation - New Play Equipment - Mallard Close

Higham Ferrers Town Council has agreed to install play equipment on the open space which lies between Stanwick Road, Mallard Close and Nightingale Way. The majority of the cost will be funded by s106 monies paid by the developer David Wilson Homes. This money can only been used for offsite recreational improvements.
