The Mayor's Civic Service was held on Sunday 8th October at St Mary's Church. The Mayor, Councillor Peter Tomas, and his invited guests processed from the Town Hall to the Church led by the Mayor's Sergeant and the impressive drummers from the Higham Ferrers Ranger Cadet band. Mayor's Successful Musical Entertainment Evening

On Friday 22nd September the Mayor, Councillor Peter Tomas, held his first fundraising event for his chosen cancer charities, McMillian Nurses, Crazy Hats and Prostate cancer. New Play Equipment at Saffron Road Play Area

A new multi play unit and agility trail have been installed at the Saffron Road Play Area. The unit includes climbing nets, which are a new feature to the play area. The equipment was chosen by the Town Council following consultation with children on the School Council at the Higham Ferrers Junior School. We hope the new equipment will prove popular. Official Opening of MUGA New Facilities

The Mayor officially opened the innovative new facilities at the Multi Use Games Area at the Saffron Road Recreation Ground on Tuesday 26th September.

Children from Higham Ferrers Junior School joined with the Mayor and the Chairman of East Northamptonshire Council, Cllr Colin Wright, and Play Innovations Mark Hawkins who represented Team GB at the Olympics in Handball.

NEW IN HIGHAM FERRERS – SAFFRON MOAT INTERPRETATION BOARD

A new interpretation Board has been installed by the Saffron Moat on Saffron Road Recreation Ground, Higham Ferrers. Despite its name, Saffron Moat is actually a mediaeval fishpond built in the 15th century to supply Chichele College with fish, and is a registered Scheduled Ancient Monument. Chichele College was founded in 1422 by Henry Chichele. He was born in Higham Ferrers in 1363 and was made Archbishop of Canterbury in 1414.. Read More »
